Install, transcribe, export. Four sections, zero fluff.

Quickstart

First transcript in under 90 seconds

Install, drag a file, click Start. That's it — no projects, no sign-in, no cloud upload.

  1. 01 Grab the macOS, Windows, or Linux build from the download link in your receipt email.
  2. 02 Install: macOS drag to Applications, Windows double-click the .msi, Linux chmod +x and run.
  3. 03 Launch. Skip the mic prompt unless you're recording live — file transcription doesn't need it.
  4. 04 Drop an audio or video file on the drop zone. Whisperline detects the format and queues it.
  5. 05 Watch the progress bar. At 100% the transcript lands in the right pane, already diarised.

Formats

13 formats in, no extra installs

Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG. Video: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, FLV, WMV, WebM. Anything weirder, run it through ffmpeg first.

  1. 01 Audio goes straight to the transcription engine — no re-encode.
  2. 02 Video tracks are stripped via the bundled ffmpeg sidecar. No separate install, no PATH fiddling.
  3. 03 Multichannel audio downmixes to mono before transcription. Diarisation runs on the mono mix.
  4. 04 No hard size cap — files stream straight through. The free tier covers shorter clips; a Pro licence unlocks any length.

Exports

TXT, SRT, VTT, JSON, clipboard

Same transcript, five containers. Pick the one your downstream tool actually reads.

  1. 01 TXT — plain transcript, paragraph-broken on speaker changes. No timestamps.
  2. 02 SRT — subtitles for YouTube, VLC, OBS. Cue per speaker turn.
  3. 03 VTT — WebVTT for HTML5 <track> elements. Same cues as SRT.
  4. 04 JSON — utterance array with word-level timestamps and speaker labels. Drop straight into a pipeline.
  5. 05 Clipboard — TXT-equivalent, copied to the system clipboard in one click.

Licence

Offline activation, no kill switch

Ed25519-signed licence, verified locally. No phone-home, no seat counting, no DRM nag screens.

  1. 01 Your receipt email contains a paste-able licence key.
  2. 02 Open Settings → Licence in the app and paste it in.
  3. 03 The key is verified against an embedded public key. Zero network calls.
  4. 04 Reuse the same key on every machine you own — we don't count activations.
